A window with soundproof glass contains a special PVB (polyvinyl butyral) film. This film is sandwiched between sheets of glass. As a result, sound waves are reflected, preventing or greatly reducing the penetration of outside noise. Incidentally, this also works the other way around: the sound inside becomes less audible to the outside world, for example in office spaces, patient rooms, concert halls and theaters.
Soundproof glass is tested for dB (decibel) reduction, called the RW index. The lower this value, the less sound the glass lets through. Standard double glazing has an RW index of 29dB. Modern soundproof double glazing can reach an RW index of 50dB. Because of this, the thicknesses of soundproof glass vary considerably. The thicker the glass the better the soundproofing of the glass.
AA Glass can supply 4 types of soundproof glass:
Each type of soundproof glass is perfectly matched to the pitch of the sound source to be blocked. In addition, the distance from the source plays a role in determining the thickness of the glass. Depending on your situation, we will advise you on the best solution for window sound insulation.
The experiences of our customers where we have fitted soundproof glass have so far exceeded expectations. In all cases there has been a significant reduction in noise pollution. Glass is therefore an ideal soundproof solution. If desired, we can show you reference projects.
Proper installation of soundproof glass is crucial, as is the use of soundproof ventilation grilles
Correct installation of soundproof glass is very important. High-quality soundproof glass that is mounted incorrectly will not achieve the expected noise reduction. Also consider ventilation grilles. AA Glas can supply special sound insulating grids, which provide fresh air and stop noise. Assembly is custom work. AA Glas has its own fitters who install soundproof glass with the right materials and tools. Feel free to ask for a quotation or visit our showroom, we will gladly tell you more.
