How to assemble a shower enclosure

You can also install a glass shower enclosure yourself. With the step-by-step plan below, a little handy do-it-yourselfer can install a shower enclosure without any problems. The most convenient way is to attach a U-profile to the wall, into which the shower enclosure "falls. The advantage of a wall profile is that the wall does not have to be 100% straight, as most wall profiles give about 2 cm of clearance. The shower enclosure can be mounted on a shower tray or on the floor. In the latter case, you can also mount a U-profile on the floor.

Step 1: Measure everything properly

Draw the line on the floor where the glass wall should go. Now put the U-profile against the wall, with the bottom on the line you just drew. Use a level to get the U-profile perfectly straight. Now mark the pre-drilled screw holes in the U-profile. If there are no pre-drilled holes, you can mark them yourself, 3 to 4 screws will do.

Step 2: attach the wall profile

Drill the holes. Tip: If you don't want to damage the tiles, you can put a piece of painter's tape on the tile so the drill won't slip. You can also punch a small hole in the tile with an awl or nail. Do not put the drill bit on the tapping position. Put the plugs in the holes and use a rubber mallet to hammer the plugs into the holes. Now screw down the wall profile.

Step 3: install the glass shower enclosure

Place the glass shower enclosure in the U-profile and secure it. Tip! Be careful not to let the glass shower enclosure rest on the tip during assembly. This may cause the glass to break or crack.

Step 4: install a stabilizer bar (if necessary)

If the glass wall is wider than 40 cm, we recommend installing a stabilizer bar or stabilization rod. You mount this stabilization rod between the opposite wall and the shower wall. To mount the rod, simply make a hole in the wall. You clamp the glass to the other side.

Step 5: sealing

Seal the shower wall properly. In most cases, a clear sanitary sealant is the best solution. Tip: It's helpful to start at the bottom when finishing the sealant with soap and water. That way you don't wet the part you still have to do and the sealant can adhere well there, too.
