Last weeks we provided this beautiful monument with new glass. The glass type chosen for this monument is the Old-Style glass of AA Glass with a monumental appearance. This glass is just like the original glass not completely flat, but has a 'distortion'. It exactly fits the look of this monument. A gas filling of Krypton was chosen, which gives the glass a U value of 1.7. The original glass was uninsulated 3 mm single glass with a U value of over 6.0. This therefore provides a significant savings in heating costs. .
Weeks before starting, AA Glass measured all the glass piece by piece. Due to the antiquity of the building and frames, this extra care is needed. Each pane of glass was measured individually and specially produced to size. All existing glazing was removed from the existing frames with the utmost care. The rebates were carefully cleaned and re-primed. The glass was hermetically glued into the rebates and then finished with a putty replacement. In this way we bring back the existing appearance of the past but with the most modern and best materials.
